Tribodynamic Modelling of High-Speed Rolling Element Bearings in Flexible Multi-Body Environments

چکیده
This study presents a new flexible dynamic model for drive systems comprising lubricated bearings operating under conditions representative of electrified vehicle powertrains. The multi-physics approach importantly accounts the tribological phenomena at roller–race conjunction and models their effect on shaft-bearing system dynamics. is achieved by embedding non-linear bearing within level model; this something which has not, to authors’ knowledge, been reported hitherto. elastohydrodynamic (EHL) film shown increase contact deflection, leading increased forces total stiffness as rotational speeds increase. Results show that 68 Nm hub motor up 21,000 rpm, input EHL reaches thickness 4.15 μm. lubricant entrainment increases causing non-linearly with speed. contribution leads 16.6% greater rpm when compared conventional dry-bearing modelling methods used in current multi-body software. methodology more accurate response high-speed necessary next generation vehicles.

Simulation of Rolling Element Bearings
Rolling bearings are high precision, low cost machine elements, used in all kinds of rotating machinery. Simulations of rolling bearings bring increased understanding of their dynamic behaviour, and shortens product development time. A rolling bearing simulation model called BEAST (BEAring Simulation Tool), has been developed by SKF. Due to the high demands on contact geometry description and c...
متن کاملParametrically Excited Vibration in Rolling Element Bearings
A defect-free rolling element bearing has a varying stiffness. The variation of stiffness depends on number of rolling elements, their configuration and cage frequency. The time-varying characteristics of the stiffness results in a parametric excitation. This may lead to instability which is manifested as high vibration levels. An FEM simulation is performed to evaluate stiffness in each config...
متن کاملElectrostatic wear monitoring of rolling element bearings
Research and development work at the University of Southampton using an electrostatic condition monitoring system developed by Smiths Aerospace Information Systems has shown that electrostatic charge signals can be used to detect the onset of wear in lubricated tribo-contacts. Preliminary investigations have already demonstrated the viability of this system when tested on a laboratory-based pin...
متن کاملImpact generating mechanisms in damaged rolling element bearings
Standard condition monitoring techniques for assessing the health of rolling element bearings are widely used in numerous engineering industries. It is well known that the appearance of impulses in measured acceleration signals indicates the presence of a defect within a bearing. Although a large amount of technical content related to the signal processing of measured time-domain signals has be...
متن کاملIncipient Fault Detection for Rolling Element Bearings under Varying Speed Conditions
Varying speed conditions bring a huge challenge to incipient fault detection of rolling element bearings because both the change of speed and faults could lead to the amplitude fluctuation of vibration signals. Effective detection methods need to be developed to eliminate the influence of speed variation. This paper proposes an incipient fault detection method for bearings under varying speed c...
